Slow Lightning Lit is a membership community born in 2021 to find connection online during the isolation of lockdown.
Slow Lightning Lit continues to meet M-F, 8:30-9:30am, Writers design their own schedules and contribute accordingly. The space is held daily for guided somatic meditation, and prompted generative writing.
Slow Lightning Lit has grown to include poetry workshops, online global and in person, Los Angeles based events, and micro publishing.

Peggy Dobreer
Dobreer is the founder and artistic director of Slow Lightning Lit, and editor of Slow Lightning: Lit anthologies and a few “uncommon books of poetry,” including As Man Is To God: a Poem on the Making of Werner Herzog’s Fitzcarraldo by Andrew Nicholls, Lamenting While Doing Laps In. the Lake by Bill Ratner, Mammal One by Guy Zimmerman and Living Poetry by. Murray Mednick
A former dancer, casting director, and talent wrangler, Dobreer is a Los Angeles based poet, performance and teaching artist, community activist, and somatic practitioner. A four-time pushcart nominee, she is author of three published collections: Forbidden Plums 2021, Glass Lyre Press, Drop and Dazzle 2018, Moon Tide Press and In the Lake of Your Bones 2012, also Moon Tide Press, with over a hundred poems in publication in the U.S. and Internationally,
